〰️ Creative Currents: Goals Hiding in Your Cave?
Published 13 days ago • 2 min read
Hi Reader,
As we're starting the new year, I approached goal setting differently. Somehow, annual goals seem too abstract for me. A year seems long, but ends up flying by too fast given all of the ambitions that I have. Know the feeling?
This time, I defined quarterly quests and landed on four ambitious annual goals. Some of them are loud and obvious, like neon signs. Others feel hidden, waiting for the right moment to reveal themselves.
During a recent visit to the Cave of Saint John the Hermit, I was struck by how much it mirrored this process. The cave felt like a sacred space, ancient and alive, where hidden dreams might linger. It made me think: What if the goals we’re unsure of are just waiting for us to sit quietly and listen?
Are you "Team New Year's Resolutions" or "Team Good Ol' Goal Setting"?

INSPIRATION STATION
Cave Light
The cave wasn’t just dark; it was alive with contrasts. Cool and damp stone met the glow of candlelight. It reminded me that even in the deepest places, light finds a way. Goals can feel like that too—dormant until something sparks them. What’s waiting to be illuminated for you?

Pattern Play
Bearded Blossoms
This week’s pattern combines masculinity and tenderness: bearded men adorned with delicate flowers, inspired by a statue I stumbled upon. Their snuggly poses radiate warmth and softness, contrasting the tough exterior we often show to the world. It’s a reminder that we can embrace all sides of ourselves as we pursue our goals.

A tool I currently test is Things 3. With its minimalist layout and smooth user interface, it might just be the best fit for managing tasks. From what I've seen so far, it's perfect for keeping things simple and displaying your progress too. Fuel Your Flow
Set a Mini Goal
Big goals can feel daunting. Try setting a tiny, achievable goal for tomorrow. It could be sketching for 10 minutes, writing one email, or simply making a cup of tea and pausing to breathe. Small wins build momentum and remind you that progress is happening, even when it feels slow.
