〰️ Creative Currents: Priorities
Published about 1 month ago • 2 min read
Hi Reader,
Last week, I packed my social life into one whirlwind visit home. My plan was ambitious—squeeze in family time while using any quiet moments to work on designs, writing, and a landing page for something exciting I’ll share soon.
But life had other plans. My mom fell ill, and instead of working, I spent my days with her. At first, I tried juggling both, but it soon felt absurd. I remembered what truly mattered to me and chose to be fully present with her. Prioritizing our bond brought a sense of peace and clarity, and I returned re-energized.
It made me wonder: how often do we overlook our true priorities in the rush of daily life?

INSPIRATION STATION
Very Berry
This week, inspiration came from something simple: frozen blackberries. As they thawed, the delicate crystals melted into vibrant, shifting colors, and I couldn’t look away. Captivated, I turned the moment into a Vogue-worthy mini editorial shoot, snapping 39 photos that inspired this issue’s color palette. Sometimes, prioritizing the act of losing oneself to truly see the beauty around us is worth every second.

Pattern Play
Guglhupf Cakes
My very first pattern featured Guglhupf cakes, a nod to my love of sweets and my mom’s famous baking. It's a traditional cake in Central Europe. Initially, my pattern design was simple, with the cakes aligned neatly. But when I tilted them at various angles, they came to life with a sense of movement. It’s a reminder that sometimes prioritizing a small tweak can make all the difference.
The Motif
Vienna’s Guglhupfbar at the Rosewood Hotel specializes in these iconic cakes. Naturally, I had to visit. Three tastings later (because who stops at one?), I was happily full—and rolling home like a cake myself. A sweet adventure can sometimes top the priority list too.

Designer's Toolbox
Airtable
Need a better way to organize your creative projects and life? Airtable is a game-changer. Think of it as the love child of Trello and Excel but more flexible and user-friendly. Whether you’re managing content calendars, projects, or contacts, their templates make getting started easy. It’s a tool that can help you prioritize your tasks and keep your creative flow on track.

Fuel Your Flow
One Thing a Day
When life feels overwhelming, I’ve learned to slow down and focus on just one thing a day. Even small progress counts. On most days, I aim to prioritize up to three key tasks—it keeps the momentum without letting me drown in endless to-do lists. Prioritizing quality over quantity often brings more meaningful results and leaves room for unexpected joys.
Let me know what you prioritized this week —I’d love to hear! Just hit reply and share your thoughts.
