That Crème Brûlée Kind of Winter 〰️ Creative Currents

Hi Reader,

My days have turned snowy and icy, the kind where the ground pretends to be solid until it gently cracks under your feet. Walking on it feels oddly like crème brûlée. Crunch, crack, a tiny sink, then forward again.

Pepsi dog, neurotic as she is, walks as if she’s about to fall into an invisible lake at any second. I, on the other hand, find it strangely calming.

The world is quieter, slower, wrapped in white. You just walk carefully. One step at a time.

INSPIRATION STATION

Ice Ice Baby

These icy days have a softness to them. I love the winter air, everything muted, almost paused. Many people stay inside because they’re afraid of slipping. I go out anyway. Slowly. Attentively.
It feels like a good metaphor for life. When something is new, uncomfortable, or a little scary, you don’t need to rush or prove bravery. You gather information. You move carefully. You trust your footing as it comes.

Pattern Play

Loose Twigs

This week I’m sharing a Loose Twigs pattern from my Wild & Bewildered collection, which I’m close to finishing.
It’s built from digitized olive tree shades and little twigs, kept intentionally loose and light. Grassy greens resting on an icy blue background. Calm, organic, slightly wild.
The collection will be available for licensing soon, and this one feels like winter breathing gently into spring.

Designer's Toolbox

Collage on Pinterest

Have you tried this yet? It's not just pinning to Pinterest boards, but creating a collage with intention. With a theme. I recently created a collage to visualize what I want to grow into this year. Intentions. Not a mood board for others. A quiet one for me (even though I have to admit, I share it with close ones so that they hold me accountable 😅). Collect images without explaining them. Let patterns appear. It’s surprisingly grounding and much more revealing than a to-do list.

Fuel Your Flow

Don't work

Have you tried to make space for something that has nothing to do with work lately? A hobby. A class. A curiosity. I started a stand-up comedy class recently and it’s been energizing in the most unexpected ways. More play, more courage, more ideas sneaking back into work.

Creativity doesn’t live only at the desk. Sometimes it needs a different room. What could this no-work activity be for you?

Before you go, take a moment to ask yourself:

Where are you already standing on solid ground, and where are you not?

Let the steady parts give you confidence for the softer ones.

Yours,

Alyssa-Ninja
