The Girl With Balloon Wings (and what she taught me) 〰️ Creative Currents
Published 5 days ago • 2 min read
Hi Reader,
This time of year tends to wrap us in noise. Lights, lists, expectations, timelines, everybody rushing to the finish line as if there’s a prize for arriving out of breath.
So instead of a heavy theme or big lesson, here’s a small invitation: What if you let yourself move softly into these final weeks? Not with hustle. Not with pressure. Just a gentle step forward, however small. Permission granted.
This issue is built around that idea.

INSPIRATION STATION
The Girl With Balloon Wings
At a Christmas market last week, I saw a little girl climb onto an empty stage. No performance planned, no music playing. Just her and the cold air.
She had these huge balloon wings on her back and started dancing. Completely unbothered by the crowd, by the noise, by who might be watching. She twirled, hopped, flapped her balloon wings, then sprinted across the stage like she was starring in her own show. Pure joy. Pure presence.
It reminded me how often we stop ourselves from doing what would bring us joy simply because we fear being seen.
"Life feels better when we dance anyway."
Even when no one claps. Even when it’s out of step with what’s “normal.” Especially then.

Pattern Play
Snuggling Zenz (Soft Edition)
This week’s pattern is Snuggling Zenz in the gentlest beige. It's a tone that quietly aligns with PANTONE 11-4201 Cloud Dancer. Even though, I've read some critics about white not being a color, I like this whisper-soft color direction for 2026.
It’s all about unhurried movement, warm stillness, and choosing softness over hustle. Think: cozy textures, quiet confidence, slow mornings. A reminder that forward doesn’t always have to be fast.

Feel-Good Productivity (Book)
If your brain feels a little scrambled this season, here’s a tool that doesn’t live on your phone:
It’s an easy, uplifting read packed with experiments (not pressure-filled systems) to help you create more by actually feeling better.
Practical, friendly, not preachy. I read it over the past months and really recommend it. You can easily do a couple of pages over breakfast and make progress in little steps with this read.
Great for anyone craving progress without burnout.

A Visit From Your Future Self
When decisions feel tangled or your path feels unclear, try this:
Imagine yourself decades from now. Older, wiser, softer around the edges. Looking back on your life. Looking back on you, right now.
What would they want you to do? Which direction would they nudge you toward? What small step would they tell you matters more than you think?
Sometimes clarity arrives not from thinking harder but from zooming out far enough to see the journey.
So here is a reflection question for you:
What would your future self thank you for starting this week?
If you want to tell me, hit reply. I always read your notes.
